Five Days Eighteen Makers began with a field trip to Tsubame-Sanjo. Four people crossed the sea with luggage full of expectation, moving through workshops, streets and production towns in the limited hours available. Only four and a half days could truly be spent on site, making every stop precious.

Behind every pair of scissors, pliers, spoon and pan is a person whose skill has accumulated over years. Some workshops have worked for a century; others for only ten years. Sparks flew, steel sang, and the sound of machines became the song’s earliest rhythm.

Questions, photographs, notes and the regret of leaving too soon became a travel record in song. Work that feels ordinary to those who do it every day became treasure to visitors from far away.
